Skin Care Layering Ritual

26 Sep 2014 13:19:53

There is a layering ritual behind the art of maintaining beautiful soft and even facial skin.

Considered to be THE ultimate beauty secret, this ritual consists of the application of several layers on the skin in order to make it even more perfect, or paler. How do we do that?

While some products overshoot the market with their multifunctional aspect, such as the well-known BB Cream, the layering aims to go back to the beauty’s origin.
     > First, makeup is removed. This is an essential step, and is done with an oil rather than a milk, as it
     is more efficient.
     > Second, a cleaning gel is used in order to get rid of all remaining impurities.
     > Third, lotion is applied to refine the makeup removal and give the skin a soft glow.
     > After this, a serum is essential as it penetrates faster than the hydrating cream and deeply
     hydrates the skin.
     > Fifth, the eye is contoured. As the skin under the eyes is far finer that elsewhere, a gel or cream
eye contour care product is used in order to protect it from dark rings and shadows.
     > Last but not least, a hydrating cream. To perfect the ritual, this step protects the skin from external
aggressions such as UV or pollution.

Facial skin care is a matter of self discipline. But if you want a beautiful face with a healthy glow, you have to set aside the time to attend to it. Here is some information to get you started on an effective facial skin care routine.

Cleansing - Proper cleansing removes dirt, extra oils and other contaminants that can damage your skin. Using a good cleansing lotion or cream, spot your face and neck, then massage the lotion or cream into your skin with gentle upward strokes. Pat your face dry with a soft cloth or tissue-avoid rubbing. As a general guideline, cleanse your face twice daily, first in the morning as part of your daily routine and again in the evening before going to bed.
Toning - While proper cleansing can compensate for toning, a good toning lotion removes all remaining traces of dirt, grime and excess cleanser. Toning does not need to be included in your daily routine. Instead, you can opt for skin toning once or twice a week and after being exposed to harsh environmental conditions.
Exfoliation - Also an optional part of a daily regimen, exfoliation removes the dead skin cells that block skin pores, preventing the formation of blackheads and pimples. Exfoliation also aids your skin in its natural process or replenishing itself every three to four weeks. Again, once or twice a week ought to be sufficient as frequent or harsh exfoliation can damage your skin.
Moisturizing - crucial step in any facial skin care routine, moisturizing prevents the skin from drying up. Nobody wants dry skin. Dry skin causes the top layer of the skin to break, increasing the number of dead skin cells. Moisturizers perform best when applied to warm, damp skin with gentle upward strokes.
